أدرجت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (UNESCO)، منطقة "أفروديسياس" الأثرية، ضمن قائمة التراث العالمي لليونسكو، وفقاً لبيان صادر عن وزارة الثقافة و السياحة في تركيا (http://alhawatour.com/) .
وبحسب البيان، فإن القرار اتُخِذ خلال اجتماع لجنة التراث العالمي، التابعة لليونسكو، في مدينة "كراكوف" البولندية، حيث يجتمع فريق من الخبراء، والمؤرخون لغاية 12 يوليو/ تموز الجاري، من أجل تحديد وتقييم وضع أكثر من 30 موقعاً تم ترشيحها لقائمة التراث العالمي.
وتعد منطقة "أفروديسياس" من أهم المعالم الأثرية في تركيا (http://alhawatour.com/)، بتماثيلها المحفوظة جيداً، والنقوش، والأعمدة الحجرية، وتقع في ولاية "آيدن" جنوب غربي البلاد، وتُصنّف كواحدة من أقدم المدن التي تعود للعهدين اليوناني، والروماني، منذ الألفية الثانية ما قبل الميلاد، وحتى القرن السادس عشر بعد الميلاد.
