أطلقت بلدية إسطنبول الكبرى (http://ist.alhawatour.com/)مشروعاً يهدف إلى تنظيم وزيادة حجم النفايات القابلة لإعادة التدوير التي يتم جمعها في المدينة الكبيرة، وذلك من خلال نظام يعمل على إيداع قيمة نقدية في بطاقة النقل الخاصة بالمواصلات العامة مُقابل وضع النفايات القابلة لإعادة التدوير في أماكن مخصصة.
وكخطوة أولى، قامت البلدية بتثبيت أجهزة إلكترونية خاصة بجمع النفايات المتجددة في ٢٥ منطقة مختلفة في المدينة، على أن يتم رفع هذا العدد إلى ١٠٠ بحلول نهاية العام الجاري ٢٠١٨م.
وتتميز هذه الأجهزة بواجهة إلكترونية وأجهزة استشعار تسمح لها بالتعرف على نوع النفايات المتجددة، كالورقية، والمعدنية، والبلاستيكية، وتقوم بتمزيقها وتخزينها، وتعرض توجيهات بصرية وصوتية تُساعد العامة على استخدامها بسهولة.
وستعمل الأجهزة المذكورة على رد القيمة النقدية للنفايات إلى بطاقة "إسطنبول كارت (http://alhawatour.com/interesting/istanbul-kart-veya-akbil/)" المستخدمة في أنظمة النقل العام في المدينة، بالإضافة إلى العديد من الخدمات التي تُقدمها البلدية.
